Journalist claims Arsenal have discussed Milan playmaker as alternative to Real Madrid man

By Oliver Fisher -

Arsenal appear to be looking at Hakan Calhanoglu as a potential replacement for Martin Odegaard, according to a report.

Sky (via MilanNews) reported last night that Milan still have some small hope of convincing Calhanoglu to renew as the offer from Al-Duhail has not fully convinced the player, so the Rossoneri are trying to convince the Turkey international with the offer they already made, but with the certainty of the Champions League.

According to journalist James Benge on Twitter, Arsenal still retain strong interest in keeping Odegaard, who spent time on loan there last season. However, it will depend on decision of new Real Madrid coaching staff and Florentino Perez.

As a result of the uncertainty, Arsenal are understood to have talked about Calhanoglu as an option internally, given he will be out of contract at the end of the month. The expectation is that he is an alternative to Odegaard, as per Benge.
