Journalist claims Milan owners are disappointed by Maldini for two key reasons

By Isak Möller -

In recent weeks, reports have suggested that Paolo Maldini will part ways with AC Milan. With the sacking of his colleague Zvone Boban and the imminent youth revolution, it’s a hypothesis that shouldn’t be ruled out.

According to the reliable Pietro Balzano Prota on his twitch channel this evening, as cited by @Talashnikov on Twitter, Milan owners Elliott Management are disappointed by the technical director for two key reasons.

Maldini insisted on bringing in Marco Giampaolo last summer, replacing Gennaro Gattuso with whom Milan finished just one point from the Champions League. As we know, this decision turned out to be disastrous, with Giampaolo sacked after just two months.

Above all, though, Elliott weren’t happy with the fact that Maldini was so stubborn, refusing to evaluate other managers at the time. It remains to be seen if the club legend will remain for next season as well, perhaps keen on redeeming himself.
