Journalist explains Milan would have beaten Man Utd ‘with a few more players’ available

By Isak Möller -

Milan were knocked out of the Europa League by Man Utd on Thursday evening, as the English side scored the only goal at San Siro. It was a big opportunity missed by the Rossoneri, who lacked the final touch in both games.

Due to the injury crisis, Stefano Pioli wasn’t able to use his best starting XI in either of the games and it was clear that this affected the team. They may have created chances, many of them as well, but they struggle big time with the conversion.

In addition, they committed a fatal mistake on the second leg and that was enough to knock them out of the competition. Speaking to Sky Italia (via MilanNews), correspondent Peppe Di Stefano spoke about the game and what Milan missed.

“Most likely, with a few more players, Milan would have played with another verve yesterday, especially in the final third. When you reduce yourself to playing with Castillejo up front it means that you are in bad shape from a numerical point of view. Manchester United were not unbeatable, a player made the difference (Pogba),” he stated.

Man Utd are favourites to win Europa League and for that reason, it will feel like a wasted opportunity for Milan. On the other hand, they stood up well despite all the injuries and confirmed they can fight with the best teams.

  1. You know United had no Cavani or Martial and a half fit Rashford and Pogba in the second leg? That’s a lot of attacking talent. All teams have injuries, get over it.

  2. Reporters eh lol. If United had signed all the players reporters have linked us with no team in the world would ever beat Oles lads. If, if, if only :-))
