Journalist explains why Paolo Maldini has an ‘excellent’ relationship with Real Madrid

By Isak Möller -

Since Paolo Maldini joined Milan as their new sporting director, the Rossoneri have been linking up with Real Madrid a lot, which is something we often saw during the Silvio Berlusconi era.

Last summer, Milan signed Theo Hernandez for €20m from the Bernabeu side and just a few weeks ago, they brought in Brahim Diaz on loan. In other words, the relationship is seemingly very good between the clubs.

In an interview with MilanNews.it, Spanish journalist Vicente Azpitarte explained why that is the case. He wrote the autobiography of Luka Modric and obviously has a lot of knowledge about the Spanish side and their situation.

“Paolo Maldini is seen as a respectable figure in the Casa Blanca. His relationship with Florentino Pérez is excellent and captain Sergio Ramos’ words of esteem for the Milan legend show that Paolo is the ideal figure to lead the new route of the club,” he said.

In his first years at the club, Maldini has made several good signings and we can only hope that he will continue like this. It will be tough to top the Hernandez signing, that’s for sure, but you never know with the 52-year-old.
