GdS: Juventus set to sack Motta with Italian replacement agreed – why Milan may be interested

AC Milan are looking to hire a new head coach in the summer, and it seems the choice will be an Italian. However, the market has changed a little this morning it seems.

There has not really been any stability with Milan this season, which was the most important thing for the season after Stefano Pioli’s exit. In the summer, when replacing him, things were uncertain and unstable.

Then, throughout Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao’s spells, there have been no differences and the Rossoneri have consistently rocked between bad, worse and ok – there have been good moments, but these have been just that, moments.

So, the Diavolo will again look for a new head coach this summer, and by all accounts, they will look for a domestic option with Massimiliano Allegri as the preferred option currently. However, the market seemingly is about to change.

There have been suggestions about Roberto Mancini in recent months, though there has been little weight to them, and it seems this option will be taken away with the coach set to join Juventus, as Gazzetta dello Sport (via Get Football News Italy) reports.

In fact, Thiago Motta is set to manage his final game for the Bianconeri against Genoa, with Mancini already agreeing to take over.

Considering the past that the management have with Motta, perhaps he could enter the mix of coaches to replace Conceicao.

  1. From what I read he got the players he wanted and failed. Has no place in Milan as well. He reminds me of Giampaiolo, his Sampdoria also played amazing football a couple of years ago. But big teams won’t give you 2-3 seasons to show it. You have half a season.

    1. Since 2020, Pioli has proved that he is a better coach than Allegri. He came to a broken team and managed to win the scudetto by building the team and playing good football. Allegri won only when he took over a strong and built team. In the construction of the new Juventus from 2021 to 2024, he showed almost nothing. Galli clearly said last night that only Pioli knows this environment of Milan, not Allegri, who left 11 years ago, and that he should give honor to De Zerbi. Capello says that the game is too slow in Italy and that as soon as they cross the border, Italian clubs have problems, and out of 20, 18 coaches are Italian. If our management wanted Allegri, then they should have brought him when they fired Fonseca, so they would see in action if he would manage to stabilize Milan, like Ranieri Romo. If this is true for Allegri, Milan is making a huge mistake, even bigger than last summer.

  2. According to Fabrizio Romano, Igor Tudor is to replace Motta until at least the end of the season with an option to extend till 2026.
