Franck Kessie has been a very important player for Milan this season, always a reference point amid the injury struggles they have had. He has played every game but one (suspension), which shows his strength.
In addition to playing almost all of the games, the Ivorian has got on the scoresheet six times in the league, already two more than he got last season. Four of these have come from the spot, taking five penalties in total this season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the penalty taker when the season started but as he missed a few, Kessie got his duties back and hasn’t disappointed since. In an interview with Il Giornale (via MilanNews), he explained why he’s so calm from the spot.
“Since the days of the youth national teams, I have taken the penalties. I’m used to it and above all, I’m not afraid of making a mistake. Every time I go to the spot, I know very well that I have two possibilities: to score or to make a mistake. And therefore I don’t feel any particular pressure,” he stated.
The 24-year-old midfielder will be looking to score even more goals this term and help his side in the Scudetto quest. And soon, the Rossoneri will have to talk about his renewal, as the current deal expires in 2022.
