CM: Kessie, Pioli and Calhanoglu the target of jeers before Milan vs. Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan derby is always a feisty encounter, but at the moment there seems to be a number of sub-plots that have taken it to another level.

Calciomercato.com report that the pre-match atmosphere before the 0-0 draw last night quite literally exploded upon the reading of the two teams, and it was an indication that the fans of the two clubs forget nothing.

The Rossoneri fans booed Franck Kessie once again as they are clearly getting fed up of the fact the Ivorian seemingly does not want to renew his contract, and they also directed jeers and abuse at Hakan Calhanoglu who moved across the Navigli to join the Nerazzurri on a free transfer.

Inter fans also had some displeasure to vocalise though too as they directed boos at Milan’s head coach Stefano Pioli, who was Inter manager in the 2016-17 season before being sacked towards the end of it and he is now leading their great rivals on a resurgence.

    1. Milan fans should boo Pioli. Eliot should sack him.. Milan is way better than 3-4 years ago but not because of Pioli… He is our brake.. he is our weakest piece. Every game is the same ugly football, the same clueless attack, same stuborness to play some good players out of their possition

      1. You are absolutely right. It isn’t as if Milan are currently fighting for the championship with a young team after a successful prior season. Nor has he lead them back to the Chanpions League last season either.

Get a clue! You may not like his tactics or his player selections but there is no way anyone with common sense can possibly critique Pioli at this stage! Maybe in the future should results worsen, but definitely not now!

      2. Pioli can only work with what he has, and atm he has either very young or very old players. Some that are completely useless and some that just want to leave. And yet we are sitting on the top of the table (with Napoli) with way more experienced teams, that have way more expensive coaches trailing behind us.

Pioli is growing with the team. Is world elite right now, of course not, but neither is Milan. He is doign great, considering what he is working with.

      3. Even Guardiola cannot make AC Milan win champion league or win Scudetto with easiliy. What do you expect see reserve player like Bakayoko, ballo Toure, saelemaker, castilejo, krunic,Daniel Maldini. Squad that can win title are balanced in starter and reserved player

  1. Yes, I think Pioli has done well tactically having Theo/Calabria come inside to let Leao and Saele/Messias go wide (and alternate doing that) which keeps defenses off balance. He has the boys press well too. Sometimes, I think he makes substitutions a bit too late when we could’ve used a change earlier in matches; but overall, given the youth of the players and lack of high quality at RW and CAM (and injuries at centerback), I think he has done well so far. It is still yet to be determined how we should grade him — let’s see how this and next season go (when we will hopefully address our weaknesses at RW/CAM and add presumably add a younger forward given the age of Ibra and Giroud.
