Kjaer expresses joy over loan deal and permanent Milan move: “I expected to do well”

Simon Kjaer continues to perform well for AC Milan. The Danish international made some crucial interventions this evening, as the Rossoneri managed to come back from behind to beat Parma by three goals to one.

Since the league was resumed, the defender has been incredibly important for Stefano Pioli’s side, forming a very impressive duo with Alessio Romagnoli. Therefore, many fans urged the club to land him on a permanent basis.

And this morning, Milan announced that they have exercised the buy-out clause in Kjaer’s contract, paying just €3.5m to Sevilla. Considering how he has performed as of late, it is certainly a bargain and it would have been hard to find a replacement.

Speaking to Milan TV’s microphones after the Parma clash, as cited by MilanNews.it, Kjaer expressed his joy over the redemption and his current form. He has signed a two-year deal with the club, keeping him there until the summer of 2022.

“It is a great joy for me, a dream to play for Milan. I’m very happy for this redemption and very happy for the victory. We were in a bit of difficulty in the first half, while in the second half we grew up. We showed how hard we worked.”

“Expectations? Honestly, I expected to do well at Milan. Of course, you never know in football, but I thought I could help the team. I’m very happy with these performances but there is still a lot to do to finish.”

“When you win matches, an atmosphere is created inside the locker room that makes everything possible. During this time we have also grown in reactions where we show our belief in both us and the coach’s work. Now we don’t have much time to recover but the joy of playing football is the same as we had as children,” he concluded.
