Simon Kjaer could be set to make his first AC Milan start in nine months since his serious knee injury, a report claims.
As has been reported by Sky Sport today (via Milan News), Milan coach Stefano Pioli could make the bold call against Sassuolo of putting Kjaer back into the centre of the defence alongside Fikayo Tomori.
It is well known that the coach wants to rotate the squad as much as possible from the Bologna game but injuries are preventing him from doing so in some areas of the pitch.
In defence though, it could be time for Kjaer to make his first start in nine months. he certainly will not be able to complete the full 90 minutes which means that he could be replaced by Matteo Gabbia in the second half.
It could be a very make-shift defence in Reggio Emilia with changes on the flanks also expected.
Why not start Gabbia and then allow Kjaer to enter in the final 30mins. If Gabbia will stay at Milan he should be given the chance to play since the season is long with a lot of games, especially if we progress further in the champions league.
Because if we are serious to make CL push and retain our title WE NEED Kajer and need him fully fit. And that means more PT over Gabbia at first. We forget he was one of the best defenders in league before injury and if he is to return to the same form he needs to play and if he can’t we need to know straight away so we can pick up a veteran perhaps in January. Thiaw and Gabbia are both still inexperienced and need time.

Simon Kjær isnt as reliant on his speed as he is on his postional awareness and how well he reads the game + passing. If the player is fit to play im all for us giving him the chance and there really should be no question mark in regard of that he is higher in the hierachy than gabbia currently is. Kjær will also have to be ready for the world cup so i expect him to play a lot before then.
