MN: Kjaer and Pellegri injuries change Milan’s transfer plans – centre-back and striker needed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will go into the January transfer window knowing that they now need at least two signings due to recent injuries, a report has claimed.

MilanNews writes that the ligament damage to Simon Kjaer’s left knee and the subsequent surgery that will keep him out for over six months has changed Milan’s plans for the January transfer market. Directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were convinced not to make any purchases next month, but now it has become a necessity.

Massara’s cell phone was literally targeted by agents and intermediaries who offered a lot of players to Milan as cover for Kjaer. However, they will wait for the right opportunities just as they did with Fikayo Tomori last year.

Meanwhile, after Pietro Pellegri’s injury it will be necessary to act to fix the attacking department. Ibrahimovic’s minutes are under management, Giroud post covid has never shone, Rebic is currently injured and now Pellegri is again too.

The need has arisen for an important investment on a young striker who offers physical guarantees, hence the meeting with the agent of Penarol striker Agustin Alvarez and Benfica talent Darwin Nunez’s agent.

  1. What’s the situation with Daniel Maldini?

How is his form? He hasn’t played at all in a while, is he not at the level where he could pick up Pellegri’s place? I do agree another striker is needed but let’s not bench Maldini for the rest of the season…

      1. I am surprised he hasn’t been sent out in loan last season and this one to help with his development similarly to Pobega. I fear the lack of playing time has hindered his development.
