Leao admits playing for Milan is ‘better’ than being a champion: “Wearing this shirt is a dream”

Rafael Leao, again, has put to bed any rumours of discontent today, stating that playing for AC Milan is worth more than silverware.

For a player like Leao, money and trophies will always be an option for him. He could easily go to Saudi Arabia, who have a persistent interest in him, or he could move to Bayern Munich, who are pretty nailed on to win the Bundesliga every season.

However, he instead chooses to remain at Milan. It is not a question of fortune or success, but heart for the winger. In a summer where many are expected to leave – many whose hearts are also with the Rossoneri – Leao, seemingly, will not follow.

Milan and music

Speaking to L’Officiel, the Portuguese star spoke about a range of topics, including his family, music and the Diavolo, and Milan Press relays his words.

The role of family…

“My family has been, and is, fundamental to me. They have always stood by me in the most difficult moments, and for this, I will never stop thanking them. My father and mother taught me that to do great things, you have to make equally great sacrifices.

“Did talent or willpower help me more? At the beginning, talent, obviously. Then comes the point where talent is no longer enough; you need something else. It really takes a lot of work to get to certain levels”.

The greatest he played with…

“Not one but two: Ibrahimović and Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Milan…

“I have always followed Milan, even before joining the team. It is one of the most important clubs in the world, and wearing this shirt is a dream. I am 25 years old and I am in the prime of my career. I know that many children look to me as an example, and for me, this is better than calling myself a champion”.

Football…

“I want to play as long as possible. When I stop, I would like to spend as much time as possible with my family and live a quiet life.”

Where does the passion for music come from?

“From my father and my uncle, who was a DJ. I started seriously at 19 in France when I played for Lille. When I played in Portugal, I was close to home, and there I found myself alone. And music became a good company”.

Milan have the strength from his contract length; however, his love for the club is another safety against interested parties.

  1. Leao’d love for the club has never been in doubt. He always speaks well for Milan, and we need this in dark times

  2. He just says this because of the comfort zone he’s in. Let’s see how many new albums & autobiographies he will release should he be at Bayern, for instance.

  3. Fck the hTers…. we need to support players that afe milanista… just have to realize leao, is more of a offensive weapon and not that twam leader….

    Glad he staying

  4. Oh and remember all the articles from insiders, how he was alrrady bayern, he wanted to leave,……CHECK WHO WROTE THAT. The same pople saying Theo is out…..same who say all disruptive stuff as if everybody was leaving….

    Come on guys…

    1. Mann!

I’m surprised really, a few weeks ago, Milan is dead, all the players want to leave, and all these pointless articles.

But as usual, the shallow fans ran off with the bloggers, but the real ones who could reason rationally knew things were never really that bad.

Nice one Leao, I love you too.
