Leao believes Milan are stronger ‘in all positions’ and discusses No.10 shirt

By Isak Möller -

After the game between AC Milan and Monza, which finished 6-5 on penalties, Rafael Leao spoke to the media about the special clash. He was also asked about the upcoming season and wearing the No.10 shirt.

It was the first edition of the Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi, following the recent passing of the legendary former owner of both these clubs. The actual game finished 1-1 after goals from Christian Pulisic and Andrea Colpani but it was then decided on penalties.

Speaking to Mediaset after the game, as cited by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Leao shared his thoughts on the special clash as well as Milan’s targets for the upcoming season. He was also asked about wearing the No.10 shirt.

On the Trofeo Berlusconi…

“It’s an honor to be able to play this match, Berlusconi made football history. Milan won many trophies with him and we are happy to bring this trophy to Milan, which is his home.”

The number 10 shirt…

“I’ve been here for many years, I have everyone’s trust, the 10 is an extra responsibility but I want to continue to do well by helping the team in the best possible way.”

The mercato…

“The goal is the Scudetto but the season hasn’t even started yet, the club has done a great job bringing in new players: this year we are a stronger team in all positions, those who have arrived have raised the level and we are happy. We have to play with the right confidence match by match,” he concluded.

It wasn’t the best of evenings for Leao as he struggled to get things right on the pitch. He was given a 5/10 in our player ratings and was thus the lowest-ranked player along with Olivier Giroud.

    1. propably only a couple of rare commenters actually said that we would get relegated but a fair deal of fans was nevertheless disgruntled but stop that false narrative, and frankly never seen you post here before either so funny you come here and spread your bs like those other trolls.

    1. Don’t bash our best player for the past two or three seasons like this it’s just a pre season n off course friendly game would you expect him to have a lengthy injury now just because you want him to have a rating of 10/10

  1. Hey guys, I have read almost all the comments and most of them are comments about Pioli’s favorite player. to be honest i have one sentances about him. I’m really surprised by Pioli’s tactics and his dependence on Krunic, from my point of view Pioli’s level of football is very low he has proved it day by day. he doesn’t deserve to be the manager of a legendary club like Milan. now about his favorite player, I can describe him in one sentence, Krunic has never done anything important for this club ever! I can say more. If I were Milan’s coach, I wouldn’t even (I repeat again) even let him into San siro watching match. it’s my view of Krunic

    1. How do you come to the conclusion that Krunic is his favorite player? There is a difference between wanting a decent amoint for a player we don‘t want to sell and being a favorite.

Pioli is easily the best non-star tier coach in the world over the last years, in a period were many star coaches like Mou, Tuchel or Conte had very underwhelming outings or outright failed.
