AC Milan winger Rafael Leao had a tricky start to the 2023-24 season. Nevertheless, his start to 2024 has been hugely impressive. The Portuguese winger was influential in the Rossoneri’s win against Fiorentina, which is proof that he is back to his best.
Coming off the back of last season, expectations were high for Leao and Milan about what this season had to be. However, the first half of the campaign did not go as everyone hoped, with Leao’s output suffering somewhat and Inter gaining a significant lead at the top of Serie A.
Since the turn of the year, though, things have improved on both fronts, and Leao has been spearheading the Diavolo’s resurgence. There have only been three losses, one in the Coppa Italia, one in Serie A, and one against Stade Rennais in the Europa League. Aside from that, the Rossoneri have been close to perfect.
In this period, Leao has 13 contributions across all competitions, with his latest two coming due to a goal and assist against La Viola on Saturday evening, as he once again showed how decisive he can be for Milan.
Following the game against Fiorentina, Leao spoke to DAZN about the season so far and the growth he has made – his comments have been relayed by MilanNews.
Regret for a first part of the season that could have gone better?
“We have talked about it with the coach in recent weeks, it doesn’t matter how you start but how you finish. We want to finish the season well, without regrets. Today we won, we are also in the Europa League which Milan have never won and we want to win.”
What awareness do you have now?
“I am a man, I’m not a kid anymore. I have to thank the club and the society that brought me to this level, I thank my fans and I congratulate Chukwueze, he played a great game and I am very happy for him. The team is doing well, we knew how important it was to win tonight and to stretch the third place.”

What did I just read?
There is absolutely something not correct with this words, how Inter started got them this far and they kept the pace that is making it difficult for us to bridge the gap, however if a team want to be victorious u can’t keep doing the ordinary things, Napoli last season and Inter this season both had that extra ordinary push, if we are not ready to do 90points next season, we simply should jst remain in the circle of ok teams not spectacular teams.
