Libero: Milan included in capital gains investigation due to Bonucci-Caldara swap

By Isak Möller -

The capital gains investigation hasn’t exactly come as a shock to those that have followed Italian football for a while. Juventus aren’t the only ones at risk, though, but also the clubs they have dealt with.

Although they weren’t included in the first round of investigations, AC Milan will be included in the second round. In fact, as reported by Libero (via SpazioMilan), the Bonucci-Caldara swap is of interest to the investigators.

The deal took place in the summer of 2018, just one year after Bonucci joined Milan for a hefty sum. Juventus valued Caldara at €35m and thus registered a capital gain of €29m on the balance sheet.

Bonucci was valued at the same amount by Milan as it was more or less a straight swap in practice, albeit two separate deals on paper. This deal will be looked into further by the FIGC and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be.

    1. So the season is a bust because we’re in second place and you want a points deduction so that we fail to qualify for the Champions league thereby missing out on 40-50m in sorely needed income? That’s insane. You need to see a psychiatrist.

      1. Also, information has been requested re Napoli’s transfer for Osimhen, which at this point looks like a flagrant plusvalenza. So if they get docked point we could very well be in first place. Let’s hope the prosecutor sees that Caldara actually had a lot of promise, actually being capped twice before coming to Milan, and so justifying the valuation.

      2. Everything that is wrong with this platform and people frequenting it in one post.

There is no discussion, there is no difference of opinion, if you don’t like something just resort to insults and that will somehow make your stance valid. Its like talking religion with zealots.

Even when it’s painfully obvious that things are not going as expected or needed, quite the opposite, team is falling apart, they will still bring random made up facts that fit their narrative.

You can inly feel sorry for such closeminded people. They ignore every opinion different than theirs. Its like they are holding their hands over their ears and shout from the top of their lungs just so they can kerp on living in their alternate reality.

        Such a pitty.

        1. Says the guy who just posts negative drivel at every chance he gets and never even bothers to have a discussion

at this point you are just here trolling and probably dont even like Milan, if so, what a sad miserable life that is, coming to a fansite for literally no reason

    2. I just can’t over how idiotic this comment is. You think Leao will renew if we get docked points and fail to qualify for the CL? We’ll even be forced to sell Bennacer and Theo perhaps. Not only that, but if it’s established that Caldara or anyone else was overvalued it will mean that the actual revenues over the period were LOWER than they were, which will probably mean we’ll violate our FFP settlement with UEFA which in turn could mean a European ban. We’ll be thrown back into the stone age again. Anyone wishing for their own team to be found guilty of inflated transfer fees is a moron.

    3. do you just wake up and hit yourself in the head every morning then type this garbage?

Stop supporting this club if you think finishing 2nd and finishing 10th is the same thing.

Fyi you were the guy who bigged up Dest, now I don’t see you mention him anymore, hmm?

      1. See… garbage. If you don’t have an argument, resort to insults. Oh well…

The illusion that at this rate we will finish at 2nd place is as realistic as Napoli getting hit with a fine that deduces 20 points from them and gives them to us.

And when he is playing he is doing a good job is he not. Not sure if you noticed but in the last two games , even though he was not playing in his natural position he was playing better than the best player in the world on that position. So… Yeah, I would say he is doing just fine.

Sadly he is Calabria’s backup and won’t have much play time, but he has been doing just fine this year.

  1. I dont think it will be a problem, Caldara was considered a high prospect back then and was pretty good at that time. Straight swap was good deal especially for us given we would have got a good DC for years to come. Unfortunaly for us and for Caldara this transfer wasnt a succes given his health struggles and its a shame because we could have had an almost full italy national team defence with roma, caldara and calabria.

  2. Like we havent been robbed in that deal enough as he played 200 combined minutes for us and the deal was valued at 37.74 mil euros due to bonuccis value so infact we paid 188700 euros for each minute played. Caldara at that time was valued at 25 mil according to transfermarkt but was far younger and actually was a promising talent that unluckily had 2 bad injuries one on top of the other.
The absolutely worst transfer in the history of ac milans history at least i cant think about one remotely coming close.

      1. Well im just pointing out facts and his 25 mil valuation according to transfermarkt doesnt seem far fetched to me you gotta remember he also had his international debut around that time but simply was unlucky because of his of the injuries that followed. Besides of that young talents are almost always sold for a something over their actual price so i simply doesnt see any issues in regard of us making the deal.

  3. It shouldn’t be a problem. The deal was pretty fair considering Caldara looked like a promising player with a bright future. Also, we’ve already been punished for all the stupid money-wasting done by Leonardo and his Chinese boss.

    1. hope you are not referring to my posts because they are factual in regard of the times valuations according to transfermarkt and the rest is simple math.

      1. Page crapped itself before I could even see your post. It even posted my reply twice. Was down for quite a while, so none of my replies were directed at you or what you posted.

  5. The outcry by Juventus fans at the time I think points to the fact that the valuation was fair. Knee injuries can’t be predicted but Future Italy star and one of the recognised best defenders in the world for 35m. Doesn’t seem to be an overvaluation to me.
