Lombardy president Fontana insists Cardinale has ‘a great desire to invest in Milan’

By Oliver Fisher -

The president of the Lombardy region, Attilio Fontana, clearly got good impressions from his discussions with AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale.

One of the missions of Cardinale since he took ownership of the club has been to build a new stadium, first continuing with the San Siro plan alongside Inter before more recently turning towards a solo solution for the Rossoneri.

As part of this plan, Cardinale has met with Fontana to discuss the potential for building on the site of La Maura racecourse, given that it falls under protected land which requires approval right up to regional level.

The president of the Lombardy region spoke on the microphones of Radio Rossonera about the impressions that he got from Cardinale and the issue of the new stadium, with his comments relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“Cardinale is a person with very clear ideas and a great desire to invest in Milan and in Milano. I hope to meet him at the stadium to talk a little with him,” he said.

“I saw a positive idea for La Maura, to occupy a small part and make a large part of the park available to the city of Milan. Cardinale’s project does not go towards speculation, but functional for the stadium and for Milan.”
