‘Could still make it’ – Longo says Camarda is ‘still a star’ with interest from Serie A

Francesco Camarda’s career could be headed away from AC Milan in the summer, despite that seeming unthinkable a few years ago.

Just a few seasons ago, it seemed that Camarda would be scoring goals for fun in Milan colours eventually. Now, it is difficult to see him playing in them, let alone scoring in them. Indeed, his future has gradually moved away from San Siro and it needs to be revisited in the summer.

Last year, he was loaned to Lecce, seeking more playing time and an advancement on his potential. However, it just has not happened. Now, that is not to say that the Rossoneri are going to give up on him.

But, is he up to the level required and more importantly, does he want to come back to the Diavolo, where he may not be guaranteed a sporadic role amongst the first team? It is not so simple as it once may have seemed.

Camarda to depart, again?

This afternoon, Daniele Longo took a look at his situation on his X account, with interest growing from Serie A clubs.

“Camarda is a future star who could still make it in Serie A: his entourage has had contacts with Fiorentina and Sassuolo.”

  1. Can we please either use him or put him in a top Serie B club, instead of a struggling Serie A one? Lecce was an all-round terrible decision.

  2. He needs to play at a top Serie B club. Pio Esposito got the experience he needed that way.
Playing for a bottom team struggling to avoid relegation is not the place to mature a young player.

    1. Even though I agree that it would be far better for him to be loaned out to a top Serie B side he is nevertheless still ahead of Pio with roughly 50 league matches when he was at the same age as he basically has 2 years more experience than he had at the time so I will argue that he has plenty of time to further develop as he only turned 18 in March whereas Esposito soon will be 21.

    1. Well, before he was 17 he had played 15 matches with our first team even if only as a substitute its far more than can be expected at such an young age especially at a club of AC Milans size and pedigree.

        1. Well I really don’t see that changing much as you at the age of 18 hardly can expect minutes so its basically up to the players themselves to impress. I’m pretty sure that Camarda is still held in the same high regard as he was back then under different coaches.
I will neverthelesss agree with Andreas sentiment further down as I would actually rather see the Italian play than for example Nkunku.

            💯. For sure.

  3. We are not exactly top-heavy in the striking department – more games next season will provide more chances. I think we should retain him in the first team squad.
