Maldini issues staggering response to criticism from ex-Milan director Mirabelli

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan director Paolo Maldini has issued an astonishing response to criticism from previous sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli.

Mirabelli worked for a year with the Rossoneri from 2017 to 2018 when Yonghong Li owned the club, and he oversaw a campaign of reckless summer spending during which over €150m was forked out on a number of high profile signings.

Since his departure two years ago he has always been very vocal about his former club in the media, such as having an agreement in place to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and the huge fine he gave to Leonardo Bonucci.

Interviewed by Tuttomercatoweb.com on Tuesday, Mirabelli hit out once again at Maldini for his lack of experience as a director, describing him as ‘a doctor who didn’t go to primary school’ before accusing him of a lack of courage.

Now, Maldini has hit back at the comments as he spoke to ANSA, and his words were transcribed by MilanNews.

“Apart from the fact that every negative comment about me I consider a great compliment, hearing him speak, if I was him, I would avoid references at any level of school education.”
