Journalist claims Man City have been ‘closely monitoring’ star Milan forward ‘for a long time’

Manchester City are monitoring the development of AC Milan winger Rafael Leao with scouts watching him closely, a journalist has claimed.

According to the latest from journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester City have ‘put Leao in their crosshairs’ as the Premier League champions are ‘closely monitoring’ the growth of the winger, who recently became a Portugal international.

He adds that the City scouting area have been following the 23-year-old forward ‘for a long time’ and given his exploits already this season – with five goals to his name and consistency shown in his performances – it could be that the management should be braced for a bid.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic admitted in an interview yesterday that Leao needed to find his own path as even he couldn’t stimulate the young winger, who has shown an explosive amount of potential in both of his first two full seasons but needed to take that next step this season to justify the investment of faith (and money) from the management.

  1. If they offer in the 60m range I’d consider it. Leao is very talented but he strikes me as the kind of player that could suddenly lose interest. He’s got a bit of Balotelli in him. This makes him a risky asset. For 60m you could find an adequate replacement and fund one or two more good player acquisitions (or contract extensions).
