Mancini coy when asked about the Scudetto battle: “Whoever wins will deserve it”

Italy manager Roberto Mancini has weighed in on the Scudetto race between AC Milan and Inter, which will be settled on Sunday evening. However, he provided a rather coy and diplomatic answer.

Milan will face Sassuolo away from home and Inter will take on Sampdoria at San Siro, with two points currently separating the sides. The Rossoneri, in other words, need a win or a draw to secure the Scudetto provided that the Nerazzurri don’t drop points.

In an interview with Corriere Dello Sport, as cited by Calciomercato.com, Mancini was asked about the Scudetto race and he stated that both sides have had a great season. His thoughts on who will win were just as diplomatic.

“First of all, we must say that it’s been a beautiful season, where many clubs have fought for the Scudetto until recently. It has also been a great battle near the relegation zone, as well as for the European spots.

“I don’t know who will win, I think Milan have a slight advantage given that they have two results to play on [win or draw]. But the matches must be played, then whoever wins will deserve it, be it Inter or Milan. Both have had a great season anyway,” he stated.

Stefano Pioli and his men have everything in their own hands and a majority of the fans present at Mapei Stadium will be Milanisti. Yet again, therefore, they can count on the tremendous support of their fans.
