AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli could start Rafael Leao in Sunday’s crucial game against Atalanta, the latest reports claims.
The Portuguese starlet has struggled for game time in recent weeks, with Krzysztof Piatek preferred as the centre-forward and Hakan Calhanoglu occupying the left-wing spot.
However, Leao came off the bench during Milan’s 0-0 draw with Sassuolo and impressed, hitting the woodwork twice in quick succession and making an instant impact.
According to SportMediaset – as cited by MilanNews.it – it is not inconceivable that Pioli could start Leao in Sunday’s game against Atalanta at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, given his positive impact against Sassuolo.
Leao has not started a game for two months, and La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested earlier in the week that Pioli is weighing up the idea of using either a modified 4-3-3 or even a 4-4-2 in order to play the former Lille man alongside Piatek in the attack.
