Rafael Leao is set to be benched in place of Krzysztof Piatek for Sunday’s game against AS Roma, according to a report.
The Rossoneri make the trip to the Stadio Olimpico looking to launch their season, having won just three of their opening six games thus far.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the line-up that Stefano Pioli will use in his second game in charge, particularly regarding the front three.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier on Friday that there would only be one change from the eleven used against Lecce: that being Davide Calabria coming in for Andrea Conti at right-back.
According to SportMediaset though (via MilanNews.it), Pioli feels that he cannot bench Piatek despite his belief in Leao’s ability.
At the moment, the Poland international holds the advantage over his Portuguese team-mate, and the hypothesis of them starting together can be disregarded for now.
The final decision will be made after Saturday’s training session at Milanello, while the outlet confirms that Calabria will indeed come in for Conti.
LIKELY MILAN XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Paqueta, Biglia, Kessie; Suso, Piatek, Calhanoglu.
