Medical bulletin confirms Berlusconi has been admitted to hospital with leukaemia

By Oliver Fisher -

An update has arrived regarding the condition of former AC Milan owner and president Silvio Berlusconi after he was hospitalised yesterday.

It was reported yesterday that Berlusconi was in intensive care in San Raffaele hospital having developed a cardiac problem, having been discharged from the same hospital back on March 30.

Now, a medical bulletin (via SempreMilan.it) has confirmed that Berlusconi is currently hospitalised in intensive care for the treatment of a lung infection.

The infectious event took place in the context of a chronic haematological condition of which he has been a carrier for some time: chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia, of which the persistent chronic phase and the absence of evolutionary characteristics in acute leukaemia have been ascertained.

The therapeutic strategy in place provides for the cure of the pulmonary infection, a specialised cytoreductive treatment aimed at limiting the negative effects of the pathological hyperleukocytosis and the restoration of the pre-existing clinical conditions.
