Milan managed to secure what could be a crucial away goal in the final minutes against Man Utd, courtesy of Simon Kjaer. The Dane impressed today just as Soualiho Meite, who played his best game with the Rossonero shirt.
The Frenchman has been somewhat criticised since he arrived from Torino on loan but really stepped up this evening. In our ratings, he earned a 7/10 as he impressed with a good balance of simple and advanced played.
Certainly, he has given the management something to think about with regards to his buy-out clause, although there is still a lot of time left. In an interview with Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, he spoke about the game.
On the match…
“It’s difficult to have a great match at Old Trafford. We are happy with this point even though we deserved more.”
On Milan…
“There is a good group, with confidence, we talk a lot. This makes me grow and believe more in my qualities. I’m happy for the team and also for me.”
On Kessie…
“He’s a true friend, it’s easy to play with Franck, we speak French, he goes alone and I understand him very well.”
On the cancelled goal…
“I don’t know why it was cancelled, for me it was good. That’s football, everyone makes mistakes and we move on.”
On confidence…
“We have always believed in our qualities, we didn’t come here to draw or not concede, we wanted to play and we proved it.”
Milan will take on Napoli on Sunday evening and it remains to be seen if Meite will get the nod ahead of Sandro Tonali alongside Franck Kessie. Perhaps the latter could move into a No.10 role, as we saw in the final minutes today.
