Messias has six months left to convince Milan – the figures of his loan move

By Isak Möller -

Ahead of the season, Junior Messias joined AC Milan on a season-long loan with an option to buy. The move came as a surprise to many and despite some injury struggles, the Brazilian has impressed thus far.

In ten appearances for the club (four from start), he has managed to find the back of the net three times. One came against Atletico Madrid, the goal that kept Milan alive in the UCL, and the other two were scored against Genoa.

It hasn’t been perfect six months for the 30-year-old, though, who missed 13 games due to injuries. He will be hoping to stay fit for the remainder of the season as he needs to impress the Rossoneri management.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara agreed on a €2.5m loan and an option of €5.5m to bring Messias to the club (via Corriere Dello Sport). It wouldn’t take a huge investment to keep him and, therefore, his chances of getting redeemed are quite high.

Having said that, the three goals he has now probably won’t be enough to earn himself a stay at the club.

  1. Hasn’t done enough IMO. Those goals came during a thrilling spell, but since he’s not been much better than any of the others who have played in RW. Let’s focus on a younger more talented player in the summer.

  2. Let him go and invest in fast and skilled winger Berardy is the right addition or Chesia if Juve relegated to seria C after their recent investigation

  3. I think he will be purchased as he can cover amc and rw and he showed he can be good. He wasn’t in match shape, probably not 100% yet. We will need players to cover since I hope we will play CL again, so we will need players that can cover multiple positions, 2nd or 3rd choice. 5.5M and low salary sounds ok.

    1. Would rather see Maldini playing.
5,5 is not much but also not nothing – better to use it for a better player.

We have some depth now, but not enough starting xi quality

  4. 30 year old not too bad for Messias skills and his ‘versatile’, he made three goals., and miss 13 march coz injuried., can imagine if he 100℅ fit., he can made double digits goals or assist.

  5. 8m was way too much for this deal. Messias is fine and I love his story but such a waste of 8m which could go towards an actual talent that could be here for years. It adds up and we have to stop wasting funds. Sell Samu and Conti, don’t redeem Messias and all those funds really do add up.

  6. Kessie what a player, please don’t let him leave Milan, our president our warrior our fighter our man of courage.forza Milan
    Happy New year 2022.
