MF: Banking giants back €1.25bn stadium project presented by Milan and Inter

Milan and Inter have been working on a new stadium for a very long time. The biggest hurdle, as time has proved, is receiving the green light from the city council, who have been very stubborn thus far.

According to Milano Finanza, the financial plan for the stadium project was recently presented by Milan and Inter. They have acquired the financial support of American banking giants Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan for the project.

The overall investment for the project is €1.25 billion, divided equally between the two clubs. The definitive go-ahead for the new stadium, the renovation of Guiseppe Meazza and the surrounding area should arrive between October and November 2021.

The bureaucratic process still includes steps that Milan and Inter hope to be able to overcome smoothly. It should be noted that next year there will be council elections and the clubs hope that this doesn’t represent a brake on their intentions.

It will take three years to build the new stadium, which means they hope to be able to inaugurate it in the 2024-2025 season.
