GdS: Milan’s €200m-rated left flank – numbers show the importance of Leao and Theo

By Oliver Fisher -

It has been obvious for quite some time that AC Milan’s big strength is their left flank, which is one of the strongest in Europe thanks to Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) talk about just how much impact the French full-back and the Portuguese winger have, beginning by stating that dating back to the start of last season they duo are responsible for 32% of Milan’s dribbles and 22% of opportunities created.

It is almost impossible to stop them in Italy and together they have a valuation that is somewhere around €200m, even if they are virtually priceless to the Rossoneri given their importance.

The duo will certainly be among the protagonists of Milan’s match tomorrow night against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, in what is a game that will tell us a lot about the Rossoneri’s European path.

Pioli will obviously focus a lot on the duo, who are creators of constant havoc thanks in large part to their pace, power, dribbling and the chemistry they have established. Leao will be able to go full throttle tomorrow too, knowing he can rest against Napoli due to the red card he got against Sampdoria.

  1. If our right side was half as good as our left side we would have blown up our oppenents in league……but its a work in progress of rebuilding…..hope we stop loosing our pieces while adding new ones in….

    1. Lol. Some people really don’t understand football. The coach is so critical to how Milan plays and has just won the Scudetto. This isn’t PlayStation where you add more attacking players, therefore get more ATTACK! Balance, conditioning and tactics are vital to make even the best of players give their best.. This is the job of the coach. Pioli has done it very well.

Could the players on the right be improved to make the team even better? YES.

Is this the fault of the COACH who has won the Scudetto and done fantastic things, like getting Milan playing like a modern, European team for the past 2 years? HELL NO!

    2. The problem is the coach? The guy who brings Milan back to the top of the table and got Scudetto last season?

I’m not sure why you want Donadoni but he didn’t coach any club for two years. No big club wants to hire him so he’s pretty much at the end of the road aka retired.

    3. “problem is Coach..”

The one who coached a mediocre squad to the scudetto last season? LOL. How many other coaches would have done that with players like Messias, Saelemaekers, Diaz etc.?

  2. Defeated by Napoli in San Siro, just Napoli not Madrid..
I still remember how Sacchi fist appointed as Milan Coach, so many ppl question about his throphy

    1. Wow. You’ve been waiting for his undefeated streak to end to feel vindicated. Lol. That’s shambolic and embarrassing.

Milan’s just finished an insane run of games undefeated and have lost one to the in-form team of the moment who completely spanked Liverpool a few days ago.

      You’re genuinely an idiot. Sorry

      1. Don’t spoil yourself bro, shame 😂
History is to be learned not just left behind, and for me even Zac better than SP..
I still hope Milan could did better but not hoping so much esp in CL, just be realistic 👌
