Alexis Saelemaekers has emerged as one of AS Roma’s top priorities in recent weeks, and talks have begun with AC Milan for the Belgian.
Paulo Fonseca ummed and arred about a decision to send Saelemaekers on loan in the summer, but it was eventually decided that a move away from Milan was the best deal for all parties, especially with the Rossoneri getting Tammy Abraham on loan.
Unfortunately, the Giallorossi have probably got the better side of the deal so far, despite Saelemaekers missing large parts of the season.
Since returning from his injury, the Belgian has been superb for the Roman outfit and has been decisive on a few occasions, including the Derby della Capitale. For this reason, there has been heavy interest in making his loan spell permanent.
Discussions have already started to take place, and the Lupi have already made their desires known. Included in these talks have also been offers of a player swap, with Bryan Cristante and even Tammy Abraham being mentioned. However, the Diavolo have their eyes elsewhere.
As Sky (via Milan News) reports, Matias Soule is sought by Milan, and the Rossoneri would have ‘thought’ about a deal if he was included. However, the Giallorossi refused to even consider that.
“Unfortunately, the Giallorossi have probably got the better side of the deal so far, despite Saelemaekers missing large parts of the season.”
Saelemaekers 4g,3a in 833 minutes.
Tammy Abraham 6g, 5a in 1095 minutes.
Tammy also missed time because of injuries.
Both teams have benefited from this swap.
Abraham is near contract ending. Milan can keep sale. Specially if they don’t give 15 million at least
Your comparing apples and oranges, they play completely different roles
It’s about production.
Both are attacking players.
Tammy Abraham production for the minutes he gets, the continuity with which he gets them and especially the service he has gotten are actually pretty good.
Abraham is a forward. His job is to score goals. He’s useless at his job. Saelemakers is a midfielder. He’s one of the best performing midfielders in the league.
Midway thru the season, Tammy Abraham has 6g,5a. If he continues with the same “useless” tempo, he’ll finish the season with 12g and 10a= 22 goal contributions from a backup.
Yes, he is very useless at his job.
The point of my initial comment is that both teams benefited from each player, which is a fact.
One is a target man striker the other is a wing back. How is that the same? Also Tammy took a bunch of penalties and good portion of his goals come against lesser sides in cups. Salamakers/Roma didn’t play that much in cups. In seria A where they roughly have the same playing time Abraham scores every 358minutes, while Salamakers scores every 184minutes as a Wing Back. No doubt Salamakers is better, even tho his main role is not even to score goals.
On pace to have a 22 goal contributions as a backup. Those are Leao’s numbers, who, the same people that call Tammy useless, call ellie and a great player.
Tammy has scored only 1 penalty, not a bunch.
It’s not like Saelemaekers is balling out vs Real Madrid, Liverpool or Bayern, he is also performing well vs mostly lesser sides.
Abraham is a target man, just like Morata, who gets almost no service. Both literally play in midfield more than in the penalty box.
The hell are people talking about?
Both teams are coming out good in this swap this season, but it doesn’t mean that Milan should sell Saelemaekers or buy Abraham.
Salamakers performs good in Seria A. If you think striker/target man who mostly misses 1vs1 is good i don’t know what to say to you. Leao is our main creator, he create chances out of nothing. That’s what makes him elite. Football is not just about who had the last tap in.
how much Tammy scrwed-up good chances/ goals?
then compare to how many Salad get good chances as WB?
We will get Alexis back no worries…
? (Morata) – ? (Camarda)
Leao (Alexis^) – Reijnders (Ricci^, Zeroli) – Fofana (Benny, Musah) – Pulisic (Chukwueze, Musah*)
Theo (Jimenez) – Thiaw(Pavlovic) – Tomori(Gabbia) – Walker (Kayode^)
strikers are the biggest issue…
Kayode already moving to 🏴
Imaginebforba moment we kept Alexis and just used Jovic instead of Abraham, wed probably have at least 2 or 3 more wins this season alone. Jovic wouldn’t have blown the 6yd chances Tammy has mucked up, and salamanders could be playing RW instead of Jimenez rn. But no, our incompetent management built a cheap squad of midtable players with no balance and no plan…
Why are ppl being so foolish in this comment section? People are only what the team makes of them. No player (besides HIGE ones like Messi or Ronaldo) can make a huge difference if the team does not work for their style. Salamakis left because his play style did not fit in Milan. Salamakis is doing great because his style fits in Roma who play sides and with one or even two classic 10s. Abraham left Roma because he did not fit, Roma didnt need a static attacker (not sure why they bought Dovbyk in Roma I suppose for the excitement) Abraham does mid ok in Milan because he is kind of fitting in a team that played like that before and can serve him, a decent chunk of times. He misses a lot, but in the end, if he does not hide from the ball and he gets enough balls, he will score.
saelemakers >>>>> abraham
if anything we should get pissili
