MN: Milan attacker out of Empoli match following muscle strain

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan attacker Junior Messias is out of the Empoli match on Saturday after suffering a muscle strain in his calf, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News, the Brazilian right winger did not leave for Empoli with the rest of the team on Saturday morning due to the injury that he sustained the day before.

This is yet another blow for Milan coach Stefano Pioli who has got a number of other important players out injured for the trip to Tuscany.

French goalkeeper Mike Maignan is also out along with Theo Hernandez, Divock Origi and the long-term absentees of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Pioli would certainly have started the match with Maignan and Hernandez in the side and Messias was favoured on the right.

It is likely that Belgian attacker Alexis Saelemaekers will be starting in that role for the Champions in the 20:45 local time kick-off on Saturday evening.

  1. better we rest salae since we would be needing him against chelsea, judging from his UCL form, Diaz can be tried on the right, he has everything to play for and it’s empoli, the are not as strong as they were last season

  2. What happens in training does Milan tell them to stretch is a weird way to get muscle pull or to have wrestling with each other bro like how in training

    1. What are you talking about? Pioli already played CDK, Dest, Adli, Origi, Pobega, and Vranckx. The only newcomer who’s not yet play is Thiaw.
