CM: Milan’s market resumes after takeover – the negotiations on the agenda

By Oliver Fisher -

The RedBird era has begun at AC Milan and Gerry Cardinale will fully support Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara’s ideas to improve the squad this summer.

Calciomercato.com write that the uncertainty surrounding the ownership situation and how long a potential sale might take did cause certain negotiations to suffer a slow down, but now they can get firmly back on track.

The striking example is that of Sven Botman who Maldini had effectively signed by finding an agreement with the player over personal terms and with Lille over a transfer fee. However, the change in owners allowed Newcastle to relaunch for the Dutchman, but now Maldini can accelerate again.

The same situation also applies to Renato Sanches and there has not been much movement in recent weeks since meeting his agent Jorge Mendes, discovering he has sizeable economic demands. A direct meeting with the owners is needed to decide whether or not to raise the offer to the Portugal international.

Looking at the attack, the scouting team and directors are ‘crazy’ about Charles De Ketelaere of Club Brugge, while they would like the signing of another striker in addition to Divock Origi. Meanwhile, they will push to lock Rafael Leao down with a long-term deal as soon as possible.
