AC Milan are going to turn their attention to Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz should they miss out on Renato Sanches, a report claims.
As has been reported by Tuttosport today, Milan are making plans for if their months-long pursuit of Lille midfielder Sanches ends with the player heading to Paris Saint Germain this summer.
The Portuguese player appears more interested in a move to the French champions given they are able to offer a much more lucrative contract to the former Bayern Munich man.
Aston Villa’s Luiz is the player that the Rossoneri will turn to as he is out of contract in 2023 and he has already told the Premier League side that he will not be signing a new deal.
That means that they need to sell him this summer or next January if they are to get anything resembling his market worth, meaning a deal could be on the cards.

He was at least the most (market) valuable player at Aston Villa. Hopefully it means something good.
Villa have rich owners. He wont come cheap. Hes not even that good. We need to spend this money on the attack.

This doesn’t make much sense IMO, if he were an option he’d surely be a better choice than Sanches, rather than a ‘backup option’. He’s probably one looking to move for free to bump his own wage, so guessing not very open to a move now.
It would be really shameful to lose two quality players we’ve pursued for so long- Botman and Sanches. There was something special that Maldini and Massara saw in them. Young quality players- Tonali, Bennacer, Leao, Hernandez, Tomori,… ,with the likes of Ibra, Kjaer, Giroud,… , will take Milan. So, when we spot them, we need to grab them quickly, rather than demeaning them after we didn’t get their signatures
