Bondo and Moncada

Moretto: ‘In constant contact’ – Milan ‘closing in’ on signing of Monza star

In a surprise twist late in the January transfer window, AC Milan are now close to closing a deal for Warren Bondo with AS Monza.

There are some fireworks on the final day of the window as Ismael Bennacer apparently wants to leave, which has irritated that Milan management because of the timing, and because of how Marseille have handled things, according to Calciomercato.com.

Thus, there has been a late scramble to try and find a replacement for Bennacer, who was actually wanted by Marseille on deadline day in the summer transfer window too. It is not an ideal situation to be in, because the directors now risk keeping an ‘unhappy’ player.

According to what is being reported by Matteo Moretto of Relevo, Milan are attempting to close a deal for Bondo right at the end of the winter mercato. There are ‘constant contacts’ with Monza to try and get everything agreed.

As a reminder, Milan have been linked with Bondo for over three years now. The first bits of speculation emerged back in the summer of 2021 but instead he chose Monza in 2023. His agent confirmed that the Rossoneri were advanced in talks, yet game time was important in the end.

    1. There’s no way on planet earth that Torino will release Ricci this window, I don’t know how you guys reason at times. We all know how Torino president is. Ricci is a summer target

    2. Ricci ain’t moving in January and Torino are not bugging. They are holding off from letting him go in January. There is also the transfer package of 30 mil plus for him probably 35-40 mil in the summer.

Milan got a striker, Santiago and moved Morata, they got Calabria to move and got Kyle Walker to come in. Emerson was supposed to leave as well but that tool got injured. Then Joao Felix is in and Noah Okafor is gone, then Sottil is coming on loan with an option, bufwaiting on Fiorentina to approve the move, they are basically getting a replacement to come in before agreeing the deal. Then with Bennacer is gone, Milan are going for someone who isn’t injury prone like him in Bondo.

All this hate for the management is unjustified if they made these many moves. They deserve to be criticized but not to this extent. They corrected a few positions where they can in a tough window like January. So I give them credit.

I would have like Ricci coming in by Torino is hard to do business with. They have an owner who isn’t as ambitious and as such is okay not making money but also okay with not being supper competitive in the league.

  1. Find yourself someone who if they like you once they like you forever as Moncada likes his players.
Should have signed Belahyane or Frendrup or even Cristante.

  2. Bondo is exactly the type of midfielder Conceicao likes and feel Milan are missing. Physically strong, fast, explosive with good technique. Someone able to press hard up the pitch.

For the style Conceicao want to play, Bondo fits the bill much better then Bennacer. For that reason this should be an acceptable trade. Bennacer out, Bondo in, as long as Marseille pay properly for him.

Also Bondo is 21, Bennacer is 27.

    1. Not sure about this, but since Bondo was brought to Monza 2.5 years ago, it should mean that starting with this summer he will qualify as a player trained in Italy.
From what I know (from FM) that condition is satisfied after training at an italian club for 3 years before the age of 21 (he’ll turn 22 in september).

      1. “In order to count as an Italian/club youth sector graduate, they must have had permanent registration (loan spells therefore permitted) for at least three complete seasons in Italy between the season in which they turned 15 and the season in which they turned 21.”

        1. So does that mean he will qualify as Italian trained in the future?
This is his 3rd year in Italy at the end of this season and he turned 21 in the September just passed.

He has quite reached 3 years yet (signed July 2022). But will by the end of this season.

I think it is a yes.
