AC Milan are struggling to establish any kind of consistency this season, and a report has outlined how it is partly down to the lack of leadership.
Corriere dello Sport (seen below) asks the question this morning: ‘Where are the Milan senators in these times of need?’. Under Sergio Conceicao the Rossoneri have not yet won three games in a row, and as a result it means they continue to drop important points and lose big games.
The mental imbalance shown is a serious one and it is up to the leaders within the side to uphold high standards in terms of performance levels. This is something that cannot be said about Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez.
Maignan and Theo have ‘disappeared in the important moments’ as per the paper, especially the French full-back who has been nowhere near the high levels seen during the previous five seasons at Milan.
The goalkeeper instead was at fault for Igor Paixao’s goal on Wednesday which won the game for Feyenoord. He made a blunder on a shot that was anything but unstoppable and it was just the latest error from the former Lille stopper.
Milan need results and they need them now. The calendar can help, given that Juventus play Inter and Lazio host Napoli this weekend. Yet, Milan cannot look at the other teams: they must take care of their own business, and to do that they need their best players.

Milan desperately need a proper sporting director and a sporting ceo. Because this club doesn’t know when to sell and when to keep players.
Maignan and Theo must be sold this summer along with Tomori. Conceição needs to use Leao as a 2nd striker and let him play off the wingers otherwise Leao will need to be sold too.
This team is poorly built. We don’t have the right players with the right characteristics to play and compete at the highest level.
Wrong.
The players dont have the mentality for games they are expected to win, that is the biggest problem. If we could win against teams were expected to win against we wouldnt play feyenoord now and we would be in top 4 in league.
Maignan is still still best goalkeeper right now. Don’t sell him.
If they want to sold to gain big money, than sell Theo and Leao is better option.
So, we can buy more quality players. And also don’t change the coach too, because this is pure because we dont have worldclass players. 1 or 2 worldclass players can lift up the team morale.
I think with the changes the coaches did make biggest blow for players. You have half of players who play on Pioli way, and half of new arrivals who needs to adopted Fonseca and later Conceicao ideas. Also old player did same thing.
You can’t do that.
Milan for now managed only to fight against Inter, but they loss against Juventus! And second part they managed to decrease number of conceded goals.
But small team problems, inconsistency…. those are now big mayor blow.
It’s not about which players to buy or sell. It’s how to form a team of players that compliment eachother. This should be an Italian team with an Italian style of play. That can happen when you develop youth into a certain style of play specific for that team (Milan in this case), which then flow into the first team. It gives identity and a feeling of family to the team. Certain gaps can be filled up with players from other countries who can add a certain something that is missing or adds that extra bit of flair you were needing. Milan has lost all of that. Add to this the destructive power of money grabbing and you get a team of players who only care about themselves, cant communicate with eachother in an environment that is only out for making more money and we end up in current times.
Let’s just hope it gets better. We need more Milanistas at Milan. Or at least players who actually care.
StranoMilan !!!
No Milan soul or DNA!!
Like Rino Gatuso said to Milan management after one month of his tenure:
Theese players have no Milan soul !!
And he was right !
