Milan mayor scrambling for San Siro solutions: “We could sell the stadium”

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have decided to focus on San Donato for their new stadium, having officially announced the project, and Inter are working on the Rozzano area. The Milan mayor, Beppe Sala, is now scrambling for San Siro solutions.

Milan and Inter had been working on the San Siro project for a very long time but decided to call it quits recently. The city council didn’t offer any help throughout the process and it now looks like a historical constraint will be put on the stadium next year.

Speaking at a recent conference, as cited by MilanNews, Milan mayor Beppe Sala seemed desperate when discussing the San Siro. He stated that the constraint isn’t certain yet and that they perhaps could sell the stadium.

“The constraint on the Meazza is not definitive, though it can influence a lot. If one of the two teams wanted to work on the stadium, since it’s our property, we can take on some of the work. Another solution is that we could sell the stadium, there are many formulas but we need to see what the willingness of the teams are,” he stated.

Of course, this is all talk and no action. There is absolutely no reason for Milan and Inter to trust Sala and the council after all that has happened. The city of Milan missed out on a great opportunity, as Gerry Cardinale described it, and it ends there.

  1. Idiot had all this time to make a deal with Milan or Inter or both and refused to do anything – now he is scrambling because reality set in! What a complete moron this guy is!

  2. In the first place he should have tried more in helping the two clubs achieve their aims, definitely something might happen,Inter could buy it, and renovate it properly, Galliani spoke about moving Monza to the San Siro, if AC and Inter get their new stadiums somewhere else, Monza should move to Milan, and play in the San Siro after some decent downgrading of the capacity, and renovation.

    1. Did they have the money? Even Inter and Milan doesnt want to renovate it since it will cost more and still wont give both clubs massive boost revenue, only 1d1ot want to renovate the stadium and pay the rent
