Milan midfielder Pobega: “When I enter the San Siro I still get the shivers”

AC Milan midfielder Tommaso Pobega has said that he still gets the shivers when he enters San Siro to play for the Rossoneri.

Speaking during an interview with Il Foglio, Pobega talked about his feelings towards the club whilst he is enjoying his first season as a regular part of the first team under Stefano Pioli.

He mentioned how he still has a child-like reaction to playing at the San Siro: “When I enter the San Siro I still get the shivers. In the dressing room we often hear the fans shouting our names throughout the stadium.”

He did then say though that he thinks it is the right thing for the two clubs to be trying to get into a new stadium as soon as possible as it is necessary to evolve and look ahead.

“It is right that evolution should take place, we are looking ahead. The goal is the new stadium. I can’t wait to win in the new home of AC Milan, close to our people, to write important pages of history with this club.”

The public debate has now begun on the new stadium which means that some genuine progress is being made.

One person that Pobega named as being key in his development is Gennaro Gattuso who used to be a Milan coach.

“Gattuso has been extraordinary in my growth. He treated me like a man from day one. We had a lot of responsibility and it was up to us to show maturity and diligence.

“I can assure you that when he got pissed off about something it was frightening, I remember that no one spoke after his shouts, total silence.”
