Paolo Maldini

CM: Milan offer invite to Maldini ahead of 125th anniversary celebrations

AC Milan are sending out invites for the 125th anniversary celebration against Genoa, and a former player and staff member is among the invites.

The build-up to the event is as big as the event itself, and this is because Milan want to celebrate the history of the club as much as possible, ensuring that key figures of the club’s history are given their flowers once again.

As reported earlier today, there are several legends that have already been invited such as the iconic Dutch trio – Marco Van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard. However, they will also, hopefully, be joined by another big name of the past, and more recent past.

That name, of course, is Paolo Maldini.

The Italian is one of the most adored former players by the fanbase, and even for his time as part of the Rossoneri’s management. Whilst some question some of the moves that were made during his tenure, there is rarely anything said of his character.

As Calciomercato.com reports, the defender has been invited by Milan, but he has not yet confirmed whether he will be in attendance. Given he has rarely commented about the club in recent times, it is not a surprise that he has not jumped at the offer, but hopefully he will be there for the occasion.

  1. I agree, that would show he is a class above SCARONI who has been backstabbing and calling him all sorts of name! However, I don’t think the likes of Ibrahimovic, Moncada and Furlani will want to stand him considering their past plots and sneaky attitude….if I were Maldini , I wouldn’t want to celebrate my beloved Milan amongst some people who don’t have Milan in their blood.. people who would rather sell all the players he brought to the club and his son but wqnt to use him , his legacy and his name as a form of Public relation business sort of thing! Shame on this management…. hypocrites

  2. Nobody can erase what this man did and means to this club.. ofc he should come. for himself and old friends and his love of the club. not for the currnet owners

    1. Who is trying to erase what he did? You think they invite him there to erase him? Then you should call the cops and tell them what you know.

  3. Maldini would have every right to “take a pass” on this event. The way he was dismissed borders on betrayal. But, I think that Maldini will show because he is a class act and respects the club. But, I would not be surprised if he actually didn’t.
