Tuttosport: One out, two certainties, three to join – Milan’s plans for the midfield department

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan didn’t manage to get any major movements completed on the attacking front but the planning for the summer has already begun, a report claims.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the management are already coming to terms with the fact that Franck Kessie will not be here as he has decided not to renew his contract with Milan and therefore at the end of this season he will leave on a free transfer.

The certainties for next year at the moment are Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer, with Stefano Pioli ready to rely on them again, while Yacine Adli will join the group having been bought last summer for €10m from Bordeaux and remaining on loan there.

Then, Tommaso Pobega will return to Milanello after his loan at Torino but that will not be enough as Maldini and Massara are thinking of a great reinforcement for the midfield, with the hottest name at the moment being Renato Sanches of Lille.

  1. That’s a fine quintet, imo. And a nice plus is that both Adli and Sanches can play CAM (Adli is actually more of an attacking mid, as shown by the fact that he’s currently playing in that position). That said, I think we still need a proper starting attacking midfielder. I don’t believe having only Adli and Diaz (and Messias, I guess) is enough if we’re serious about winning trophies.
