GdS: Milan will initiate renewal talks with Ibrahimovic at the start of 2022

By Isak Möller -

At the age of 40, Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to make a difference on the pitch and he certainly showed that last night, with two goals. As a result, a renewal with AC Milan now seems more likely than in recent weeks.

The Swede struggled with injuries at the start of the season so he’s only just finding his groove, but the initial indications are very positive. If managed properly, the feeling is that he should be able to stay fit, or at least avoid serious injuries.

Yesterday, he scored two goals against Fiorentina and thus became the oldest player to have scored more than one goal in a single Serie A fixture. A record, however, which was overshadowed by the defeat Milan suffered.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan are already thinking about the renewal and should open talks with Ibrahimovic at the beginning of 2022. The current deal will expire in the summer and the striker seems keen on staying.

  1. I like Zlatan but if he stays, I don’t think we’d be going for Alvarez, Belotti or Vlahovic. Also I don’t know why I feel that we should sign Pellegri at the end of his loan. Perhaps he needs time too just like Tonali and the likes.
