The crisis that AC Milan are going through will have consequences not only on a sporting level, but also on an economic level too.
As Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) report this morning, Milan were not able to obtain the revenues from qualifying for the Champions League round of 16 this season, but what is more worrying is how much they will miss out on in the next campaign.
The squad is in fact losing a lot of value too, especially the most important players. The paper states that Theo Hernandez, Mike Maignan and Rafael Leao have suffered a devaluation of around €100m combined.
This is the direct consequence of the continuous defeats that Milan are accumulating because the more you lose, the more your players lose value. It so happens that Theo has gone from being worth €70m to €20-25m, also due to his deal running out in 2026.
Maignan has gone from a valuation of €70m to €35-40m, mainly because of the many errors that he has made and also the fact that his deal runs out in 2026 too, even if there is talk of a renewal.
Leao’s season meanwhile has been less disappointing compared to the French duo, but realistically he is worth €60m, much less than the almost €100m offered by Al-Nassr in the winter window.
Humans – I wonder how we will feel about people who boo and heavy crictize us when we are in our down moment personally, what some fans are doing to milan is so bad and unreasonable, just becos they are not making you happy at the moment. Remember the team came from a time where we had no reputation in europe, to qualifing for champions league for 5 straight times and now we want to destory everyone and everything because of just this season. Some of these players had no worthy backup for how many seasons straight. Players like theo. U wont even punish a kid for underperforming for the firsttime in six years. Please lets change our mentality and stop being toxic to ourselves. Including Sempremilan and CURVA SUD. #RealMilanFansSupportThem
Thank you for this! The time when you most support a team is when it’s down. This is not banter era quality of players, we’re much better than that and we know we are (just look at last year). But to boo and talk trash about the players and even their kit is just silly. Support the team, especially now
You are correct that the fans should support the team, especially when the team is struggling. It is easy to support them when they are winning.
And while I don’t believe they should attack players who are struggling in performance, they have every right to be upset at players that are getting paid millions and can’t act like professionals. Performance is one thing but effort is another. When a player continuously does not give a full effort or behaves selfishly and puts himself over the team then the fans have every right to let them know about it. Yes, I’m talking about Theo.
I agree 100%
Leao 60M€? LOL. We’d be lucky to get 50M€ for him. How low have they gone? And people thought we’d get 100M€ for each when they go. 🙂
Leao is still worth at least 120 million. He’s still the player he always was, but the team around him has gotten much worse.
You’re right, he is the player he always was. A 40M at best player.
120M€???? No club would offer that kind of money for him. Not even Saudis who are known to overpay.
A loss only occurs when you realize in!!!
It is always best to keep players and gain money from competitions
Problem is Milan team play is very bad so this is creative job to the reconstruction
Leao is not worth 60m. 40-50m seems more reasonable.
This is why when a stupid offer comes in, you sell. See Tonali, sold for way more than he was worth, and just in time before he was suspended.
Take the money and run, you will never see that much offered again. Every player is replaceable, especially if you are selling for inflated prices.
Par for the course. Team doesn’t do well…. obviously player value would go down. We improve next year …and it’ll go back up. No need to panic
