Journalist compares Milan’s left side to Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich duos

By Oliver Fisher -

Journalist Paolo Condo has claimed that AC Milan have a left side that can rival some of the best in Europe when Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao are in form.

The attacking prowess of the duo was on full display during Milan’s 3-0 victory against Venezia yesterday when Leao got in behind after just two minutes to set Zlatan Ibrahimovic up for a tap-in to open the scoring, then the Portuguese international set Theo up with a lovely through ball to double the scoring and the Frenchman added a third goal from the spot.

The left wing of Milan has proven to be a big weapon this season already continuing a trend from last season, and there are few – if any – in Serie A that can field as effective a duo as Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao, with Ante Rebic also to come off the bench.

Paolo Condò spoke in a column for La Repubblica about the Rossoneri’s left wing and he drew some interesting comparisons with other top sides to show just how good they are.

“Leao’s recovery has given Milan back the left dorsal which is the real plus of their chessboard. Theo Hernandez has scored two goals: it often happens that a good disposition is also reflected in the scorer,” he said (via MilanLive).

“But this is not (only) the point: when Theo and Leao can dialogue and overlap, perhaps taking advantage of an additional game accelerator such as Tonali, Milan unbalances the opponents by forcing them to overload that side and freeing up spaces elsewhere.

“The combination of the full-back’s power and the striker’s class is worth flattering international comparisons: Alaba-Vinicius at Real or Davies-Sané at Bayern, or Robertson-Mané at Liverpool. These tandems have already done great things in the Champions League, but the potential of the two AC Milan players – whose renewals must be closed as soon as possible – could bring them there.”

  1. We play with 4 defenders and Theo has to cannonball all over the field to attack. I think he could score/assist even more if we had capacity to play with 3 defenders and let him play as a midfielder just like he plays for France.
Let’s be honest Theo is not that great at defense )))

  2. kalulu tomori and romangoli 3 CB seems good but mhm we will have to get a CB in summer not now but wait kjaer might comeback oh then thats not an issue lol
