MN: Pioli strongly considers starting Tonali, Kessie and Bennacer against Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

Preparations are underway at Milanello ahead of what is not far off being a must-win derby for AC Milan against their city rivals Inter on Saturday evening.

According to MilanNews, one of the main areas that Stefano Pioli is studying is how the midfield should be built, and the good news is that Sandro Tonali in great shape so he is absolutely nailed on for a spot in the starting XI, with the doubts about who will be his partner in the double pivot.

To date the favourite is Ismael Bennacer, who already returned to the field against Juventus, with Tiémoué Bakayoko and Rade Krunic expected to begin the game from the bench, but where does that leave Franck Kessie?

If the Ivorian shows that he is ready to start (he will return to Milanello today) then it cannot be ruled out that Pioli will use him as the attacking midfielder in place of Brahim Diaz, as happened in the win away at Empoli before the Christmas break. To date, therefore, the only certainty is Tonali, with more updates expected.
