MN: Milan unable to put timeframe on Maignan injury return

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are unable to definitively say when Mike Maignan will be returning from his injury as the Frenchman’s situation keeps changing, a report claims.

As has been reported by Milan News, it became clear in the press conference on Saturday evening that there is no imminent return to the team in store for Maignan and it could be a very long lay-off.

The medical staff are continuing to evaluate his condition to try and determine how many weeks it will take for the goalkeeper to get back on the pitch.

As was explained by Pioli, it could be two weeks or it could be five: “We don’t have timelines, we are going with the evaluations that the staff is doing. I cannot say today if it will be in 2-3-4-or 5 weeks. Mike has all our support and he is very eager, but he knows we have to respect timelines because the muscle is not responding as it should. I can’t say we will have him by that date.”

Maignan was set to go to the 2022 World Cup with France when he suffered an injury that meant he had to miss the tournament. Further complications with that injury mean that he is now missing a sizeable chunk of Milan’s season when the game are very regular.
