Simon Kjaer was a very important player for Milan this past season as he teamed up well with Fikayo Tomori, as well as any other teammate he had beside him. And ahead of the upcoming season, he could get more responsibility.
As Gigio Donnarumma has left Milan, and with Alessio Romagnoli’s future in the balance, Kjaer could become the new captain of the team. He has shown to be a true leader on the pitch and a perfect teammate off it, now a real candidate for the armband.
According to MilanLive, the defender is also aiming to get a renewal as his contract will expire in 2022. Milan signed him for just €3m from Sevilla and it has turned out to be a bargain. Just like he earned the redemption, Kjaer has earned a renewal.
It will be just as fundamental as renewing the contract of Franck Kessie, as the outlet continues, considering the importance of the player. It remains to be seen if he will get the armband, but the renewal is certainly a must.
