MN: Adli could be Milan’s ‘tenth signing’ but must raise ‘physical and mental pace’

AC Milan’s 10th summer signing ‘could be an internal solution’ as per one journalist, namely the promotion of Yacine Adli to a more important role.

Adli’s future has remained a mystery over the past few weeks as he has been used in most of the preseason friendlies – mostly in the regista role in midfield – but has always had rumours swirling around about a sale.

According to Pietro Mazzara’s latest for MilanNews, Adli could be Milan’s ‘tenth market signing’. Last season he fluttered between being a ‘mysterious object’ and ‘something similar to the Messiah’ but has switched position over the summer.

After a conversation with Pioli, he gladly accepted the idea of moving back a bit to play in front of the defence as a deep-lying playmaker, as a deputy to Rade Krunic but offering different solutions.

Mazzara adds that ‘his technique is not lacking, it is the physical and mental pace that he must raise’ in order to be successful in this side under Pioli.

In short, he must be much more intense and this was also made clear by Pioli during yesterday’s press conference. He ‘has to go from being an ’80s player to a modern player’, and then he could really begin to shine.

It comes after our recent report which stated that Pioli seems to have done a U-turn on Adli and is now willing to try him in the new-look midfield three, even if the management are still listening to offers.

    1. Backup ?
Adli has every quality to play and compete in our midfield even before now, if Krunic can hold a starting spot Adli should be walking a king. Cus until he proves otherwise he has the ability.

  1. Everything said up there is what everyone knows and have known and been saying, it seems it now Pioli is realising it. Well it’s morning for him I hope he isn’t using all this gimmick to mask giving us a bad run.

  2. Exactly what I wanted and I believe between now and when Bennacer would make his comeback Adli would be our starting Regista.

  3. “Physical pace”? He is not behind Krunic in physical pace. He cannot be. Mental pace? I agree. But Krunic is neither very quick in his thinking, and Bennacer least of all, twisting and turning until there is no tomorrow.

  4. He should leave, otherwise he would waste another 1 year of his career. Pioli has Zero ideas on what to do with players like him.

  5. Adli should go somewhere if he don’t get playing time with Pioli. If he is still lacking physicality what’s the coach working on. He is not alone, he have a team to take care of everything.
Deketelaere scoring goals easily than in Milan, it shows we cannot adopt our system with Player’s but player’s should. Same with Lucas Pacqueta

  6. I like his game, and would be happy to see him stay, but, have doubts about his ability to play that role. I see him more of a substitute for Reijnders. All the same, best of luck if the story is true.
