Zlatan Ibrahimovic is currently recovering from knee surgery and will miss the first half of the season. Alessio Romagnoli, meanwhile, has left and thus two players will get extra responsibility at Milan this upcoming season.
The players in question, as highlighted by MilanNews, are none other than Davide Calabria and Sandro Tonali. The former was the vice-captain this past season but he will now be the captain, while the midfielder is also a contender for the armband (as vice or lower).
Calabria has played for Milan for a very long time, having come through the youth ranks, and he knows what it means to take responsibility. The same can certainly be said for Tonali, who exploded this past season and above all showed his love for these colours (dispute with Dumfries in the derby is the perfect example).
With the absence of Ibrahimovic, as well as Romagnoli’s departure, these two will be given extra responsibility despite their young age. Certainly, they are very mature and deserve to get these roles from Stefano Pioli, especially since Simon Kjaer also might sit on the bench initially this upcoming season.
