The 2025-26 season will be absolutely crucial for Milan in many ways, and as such, they need to be quick in preparing for it. As highlighted by a report, the first deadline is already clear for the Rossoneri.
Since the appointments of Igli Tare (sporting director) and Max Allegri (head coach), things have been moving fast for Milan. Tijjani Reijnders has been sold to Man City, with only the official announcement missing, Mike Maignan is pushing for a move to Chelsea, and Theo Hernandez should be sold.

In other words, the aforementioned duo have a lot of work ahead of them in order to build a competitive squad. It goes without saying that the Rossoneri cannot afford another season without Champions League football, so that is the clear goal.
First deadline emerges for Milan
As highlighted by MilanNews, the first deadline is very obvious for Milan: Raduno on July 7, i.e. the first day of pre-season. By then, Allegri will need a more or less complete squad at his disposal to instil his beliefs and concepts as quickly as possible.
We are thus talking about roughly one month for Tare and Allegri to do their thing on the transfer market. It won’t be an easy task, as alluded to, but at least the early transfer window (due to the Club World Cup) have allowed Milan to make their moves early.
Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has already been secured in the event of Maignan’s departure, with Milan ready to pull the trigger, and many names are being monitored by the club. As for Reijnders’ replacement, not counting the veteran Luka Modric, a decision is yet to be made.
While the quality of the player will obviously matter, the key thing will be to deliver each signing to Allegri as early as possible. We saw the effects of not doing so last season, with Youssouf Fofana arriving much later than initially planned and he suffered for a few months as a result.
No rush, got to get rid of everything valuable first.

Maignan, Theo, Leao and Reijnders will most likely not be here. The latter three have great stats compared to the others in the squad. Only Pulisic is as reliable looking at the stats.
What can we buy with similar potential when we don’t have Champions League to offer?
Your last question is the most important one. I think there’s an answer; we’re still a big spending club and if a young player comes here, we need to offer
a) playing and learning from a couple of legends, people like Xhaka, Modric
b) being a lynchpin part of squad instead of a bit-part player somewhere bigger – as a left-back or winger you’re guaranteed playing time
c) potential to earn a reputation here now and prove to Barcelona, Madrid, Liverpool or Man City aspirants that you can cope with big fan bases and expectations
d) you’ll earn more than anywhere else in Italy aside from Inter, but Inter are having to cut their costs at the moment too
It’s a tough sell, not easy, but that’s the offer we have
