MN: Ibrahimovic in Rome for check-up on knee injury with specialist from Pittsburgh

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in the Italian capital to have a check-up on his knee involving a specialist, according to a report.

Ibrahimovic damaged his knee when Milan triumphed over Juventus last month, which sparked fears as to whether he could be set for another long spell away from the game. However, it looks as though he has avoided serious injury, and while he did not play for the Rossoneri again in 2020-21, he will also miss out on the Euros.

Several sources have since reported that the knee is still swollen and it hasn’t improved much in the last month, as confirmed by Sweden’s national team coach. It has led to an increased amount of worry regarding his situation and a suggestion that surgery could be needed.

According to what is being reported by MilanNews, Ibrahimovic is in Rome for a knee checkup with Doctor Volker Musahl of UPMC Pittsburgh, the same doctor who visited him in Milanello last May after the injury he suffered against Juventus.
