Mike Maignan was forced off during AC Milan’s defeat to Liverpool last night and there is subsequent uncertainty regarding whether he will recover for Sunday’s derby against Inter.

Maignan never looked right all evening, grabbing his thigh muscle shortly after the Christian Pulisic goal that put the Rossoneri 1-0 up and needing treatment again after that. However, he was finally forced off because of a nasty collision with Fikayo Tomori and Diogo Jota, limping out of San Siro after the game.

According to MilanNews, Maignan underwent a series of tests this morning revealed a contusive trauma to his right thigh which came from the deep cut he suffered. His condition is to be evaluated in view of Sunday’s derby against Inter, with news to follow in the coming days.

Davide Calabria was also forced to leave the field yesterday due to a calf problem that saw him limp when returning to the changing rooms in the second half, but there is less alarm regarding his condition.

The same source confirms that the Milan captain has no injury, as confirmed by his presence among the rest of the squad for training today. Like the other starters from yesterday’s match against Liverpool, the full-back also rested and will therefore be available for the derby against Inter.

    1. Mike suffered only one injury in 26 years before arriving at the club. They were supposed to fix the injury situation.

And Emerson Royal is so bad that Fonseca favors Calabria with one leg to try to save his job.

  1. Haven’t seen a GK is constantly injured since I am Milan Fan in the 80s. In terms of biz, this is really bad. Not as if there ain’t pool of good GK to choose from. Royal is nonsense, maybe his name attracts the management. We need Italian players!
