MN: Good news from Milanello – the latest on Gabbia, Okafor and Florenzi

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan squad had a training session at Milanello this morning ahead of Sunday night’s game against Roma at San Siro, one in which a response is needed.

Milan are now out of the Champions League and the Coppa Italia, with just a top four spot left to fight for. While there is quite a cushion to fifth place, a bad result against the club from the capital could reopen some doubts and begin another crisis.

According to MilanNews, two bits of good news arrived for Stefano Pioli a couple of days before the game as Matteo Gabbia and Noah Okafor did the entire training session with the rest of the squad and will be available for the match against the Giallorossi.

The defender came off on Wednesday during the Coppa Italia defeat to Atalanta after a bloody clash with De Roon, while the Swiss forward has been sidelined by a muscle injury suffered in mid-December against Monza.

Marco Sportiello and Marco Pellegrino also trained with the rest of the squad too, which certainly provides some respite in the centre-back department after the recent emergencies.

However, Alessandro Florenzi did not train as he is struggling with an overload in the adductor muscle of his left thigh. The full-back has carried out individual work and therefore the chances of seeing him back on the pitch against his old club on Sunday are decreasing.
