Rafael Leao participated in the entire training session at Milanello earlier this morning. The Portuguese international should thus be back against Newcastle, which is a huge boost for AC Milan.
Leao has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury but his return now appears to be imminent. After Milan left him out of the squad as a precaution yesterday, he participated in the entire training session this morning.,
According to MilanNews, given this update from the training ground, there is optimism ahead of the game against Newcastle. It will take place on Wednesday and Leao could even play from the first minute, with two more days to prepare.
Although Christian Pulisic had done okay at left wing in previous games, he wasn’t at his best in the defeat against Atalanta. Leao’s absence was felt, in other words, and having Pulisic back on the right flank should help Milan as well.
On the plus side, Olivier Giroud and Luka Jovic got on the scoresheet yesterday, which is a good sign after both had struggled to deliver earlier in the season. The defensive struggles must be taken care of, though, otherwise the efforts in attack won’t matter.
