AC Milan will travel to Udine with their new 4-3-1-2 system in place, but Giampaolo isn’t expected to field any new players. In fact, the manager will rely on last season’s players.
The reason behind this decision is simply time. Giampaolo believes that the new signings haven’t had enough time to get familiar with the new system, which requires a lot of attention.
Donnarumma will start between the sticks, as usual, while Calabria and Rodriguez will occupy the defensive flanks. In the centre, Romagnoli will pair up with Musacchio as we have seen many times before.
In midfield, Borini will start on the right side while Paqueta will get the chance from start on the left. Meanwhile, Calhanoglu will play in the regista position instead, after Biglia injured himself during training.
Suso will play behind strikers, Castillejo and Piatek, which completes the starting eleven. No surprises, therefore, even though some were hoping to see new signing Rafael Leao instead of Castillejo.
Likely AC Milan XI (4-3-1-2): Donnarumma; Calabria, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Borini, Calhanoglu, Paquetà; Suso; Piatek, Castillejo.
